Alpineglow Antechamber - Framed original painting

$2,250.00

“Alpenglow Antechamber” centers the quiet power of Delta Lake, its turquoise-green waters reflecting the Grand Teton rising sharply in the background. Framed by graphic archways, the composition creates a kind of sacred space - an antechamber between earth and sky, stillness and motion, the seen and the felt. These arches are imagined forms, inspired by ancient structures and natural shelters, meant not to interrupt the landscape, but to honor it. They act as quiet thresholds, offering a place to pause, to look, to listen.

The painting was born from my own time at the lake - after a steep hike and careful scramble across shifting boulders. I spent the late afternoon sketching along the shore, the sun casting its final light across the granite and turning the Grand’s peak a soft, glowing pink. There was a hush to the place, a reverence that didn’t need words. I tried to hold onto that feeling, to carry it home with me and build it into this piece.

Set within Grand Teton National Park, Delta Lake lies in a glacial cirque carved over millennia. The landscape here speaks in the language of tectonics and ice, of erosion and time. But beyond geology, this land holds deeper histories - of the Eastern Shoshone, Bannock, Crow, and other Indigenous Nations who have long called this area home. Their relationships to these peaks and waters extend far beyond maps or trail signs -  they are written into the rhythms of the place itself.

“Alpenglow Antechamber” is part of my ongoing practice of visionary landscape painting - a way of seeing and shaping the land through memory, emotion, and reverence. It is both a reflection and a doorway, inviting the viewer to consider what it means to step into sacred space, to witness a mountain at rest, and to feel - if only for a moment - like part of something vast and alive.
