Among Ferns - Archival print
“Among Ferns” captures the quiet resilience of a fallen redwood in Montgomery Woods, just outside Ukiah, California. The massive trunk, worn and softened by time, supports vibrant life - ferns sprout from its crevices, moss carpets its surface, and fungi bloom in soft tiers. A creek flows beneath it, barely visible, yet vital - quietly nourishing the forest floor.
The original painting is bordered by a masked off wood frame, its bold geometric presence is striking. The wood grain isn’t just decorative - it echoes the redwood tree’s own rings, a deliberate nod to time’s passing and the enduring imprint of what once stood tall.
The original painting was made using oil, acrylic, and pastel on wood panel.
