Pine Lake Prism - Archival print

from $75.00

“Pine Lake Prism” captures Temple Crag as it overlooks Big Pine Lake in the Eastern Sierra. The jagged granite peaks rise sharply above the lake, their reflection shimmering in the turquoise high-alpine water below. Sunlight refracts across the surface, casting subtle color shifts that give the lake a prism-like quality, revealing the interplay of sky, rock, and water.

This landscape is part of the Eastern Sierra’s quiet, high-altitude world - a place that invites reflection, observation, and connection to the land. Painting it allowed me to spend time with the forms, colors, and light that make this corner of California so striking, and to honor the solitude and scale of the mountains and lake. This is one of my favorite backpacking treks - I was eaten alive by mosquitoes, but the views and the chance to develop this painting made it more than worth it.

The original painting was made using oil, acrylic, and pastel on wood panel.
