"Redwood Enchant" comes from a mini series celebrating California’s extraordinary claim to the tallest, oldest, and most massive trees on Earth. This piece features the Coastal Redwood found throughout Northern California, with the tallest known individual being the unmarked Hyperion hidden deep within Redwood National Park. The painting echoes the feeling of a painted collage—layers of lichen sustained by the redwoods, interwoven with wood-grain textures that read like natural maps, marking the vast timelines of these ancient beings against our brief human lives. We are profoundly fortunate to live among such abundance, and this work invites us to re-remember our role as stewards of these sacred forests, honoring trees as vital earthly citizens with essential roles in our ecosystems.
