Tamalpais Threshold - Archival print
“Tamalpais Threshold” features Mount Tamalpais framed by a graphic arch, with the Bay and nearby docks stretching out beneath it. The arch acts as both a compositional and symbolic gateway, drawing the viewer’s eye toward the layered landscape beyond. The interplay of architectural form and natural scenery highlights the meeting point between human-made structures and the vast, open environment of the Bay Area.
Through this work, I explore how familiar landscapes can feel renewed when seen through a frame or threshold. Painting this scene allowed me to focus on the contrasts between the solidity of the arch, the softness of the water, and the majesty of Mount Tamalpais, celebrating both the natural beauty and the human context in which we experience it.
The original painting was made using oil, acrylic, and pastel on wood panel.
