Dust and Dye - Archival print
From my State of Change: Visions of California series, "Dust and Dye" reimagines the iconic Artist’s Palette in Death Valley National Park. Painted in desaturated, earthy pastels, the scene captures the ochre, iron, and mineral-stained hills in a softened, dreamlike state - part memory, part imagined future. Subtle graphic motifs suggest a technical viewing platform hovering above the fragile terrain, hinting at a future where access to such landscapes might be mediated or controlled. This work contemplates the tension between preservation and intrusion, asking how we might experience these delicate environments in a changing world.
The original painting was made using oil, acrylic, gouache, and pastel on wood panel.
